Happiness and Thinness are not Synonyms
I just logged on to my MySpace account, and saw the funniest advertisement. The one I just saw was a picture of a fat girl and then a picture of (suposedly) the same girl skinny with a hot guy, and the heading said "I lost 27 pounds in 2 weeks and so can you". Yah, right, if I get liposuction. The ones that tick me off, though, are the "before" pictures that really aren't that bad. I guess you know you need to go on a diet when you're envious of the "before" pictures. But I see these kind of ads all the time on the internet. It's sort of depressing to think of all the people desperate to loose weight, and even more so that being skinny is the key to happiness. I guess the point I really wanted to make, is that - sure, being skinny can help in the hapiness department - but it's not a guarantee. Happiness and thinness are not synonyms. I wonder if I can convince myself that fatness and unhappiness aren't either.

I really hate those advertisement! Awhile back I I saw on the news that they revealed the before and after pictures are flipped around. They start with a skinny/fit person and then that person gains weight for the after picture so the ads are actually false. Once I heard that, I quit trying to use any over-the-counter products to speed up my metabolism. Now I just try to be smart and lose weight naturally.
